Feelings About Becoming No.1 - 4/16/09
I was thrilled to find out about becoming the new No.1 in the world.
It was something I’ve aimed to achieve ever since I began competing as an athlete, and I can’t believe I finally achieved it all these years later. It’s especially nice to know that Marat and I are the only brother-sister combo to achieve this feat.
I want to thank my coach and family for all their support to help me reach this goal. It would not have been possible without them. However, I have many more goals ahead of me, including hopefully winning my first Grand Slam and many more tournaments.
I also want to thank all my fans. They make this accomplishment all the more enjoyable.

You deserve the #1 spot. Nobody has stepped up and handled the grind of the tour the way you have. Remember all your hard work , who you are and how far you have come, and your family name. ( Just don’t get mad or down on yourself like Marat… Just kidding)

Thank you for always fighting and for being such a humble and kind person. I hope you’ll never change. You’re a great ambasador of tennis and so much fun to watch. Never give up, you rock!

Dear,Dinara You are the Best no matter how finished this Rollan Garros!!! I think that next year You must concentrate not only on your tennis study but also on work with psiholog,please don’t be offended I mean that moral support shortage during your championship. I believe in your talent , in your strong character!!! You are the best!!!

It is such a joy to watch play tennis, in my opinion, you are the fittest women’s player in the tour. You have worked hard to get to this point and it shows in your game and in your concentration, such a delight to watch you play!!
I wish you the best in Wimbledon, I hope everyday you play you be at your top level, then you are invincible , just remember that!

i think ur d best player i have seen for quite sometime now..u really deserve a grand slam and hope u get it at d earliest..u should hv had trophy at roland garros this time.. u reli deserved it.. but bad luck.. thrilled u into semis at wimbledon.. wishin u d best of luck .. I was so happy when you became world number 1.I watched all your matches on wimbledon and I were very disappointed when you lost against Venus Williams,but its a great news that you will be still number 1!I enjoy watching you playing and keep going improving your game!(Especially your serve!):)

I’m not quite sure how to put this. Statistics are statistics, not a popularity rating. You’re #1 by those statistics…end of story. But, personally, statistics or not, whenever I can catch you playing on The Tennis Channel or ESPN, I stop and watch you play. And, for some reason, when I watch you play I’m reminded of Monica Seles. You’re a great player and I hope to continue watching you for a long time.

Just wanted to let you know that you are doing very well in comsistency and performance. Just keep playing in all the tournaments you can. The more you play, The more experience you’ll achieve. And by the time you know it you’ll have your first slam. But I don’t have to tell you that, Cause you already know that. Keep it up Sweetie. Sorry for your loss at the LA Women’s championship tennis tournament Safina. But no matter what, Win or loose your loyal fans like myself are behind you 100%. We all love you and have a tremendous amount of confidence in you. So don’t give up the fight for a Grand Slam. Also may I say you looked Totally exhausted out there on the court. I know this is going to sound funny but, try eating a small piece of what you love the most. (Chocolate) during your matches. It will give you more energy then some of those energy bars you eat. Football Players do it all the time, especially alot during the Championship games. Keep your head up and go get that Grand Slam. And don’t forget the Choclate!!!

Like I said in comment 16, no matter win or loose we’re all behind you 100%. I know thing’s did’nt go well as you wanted them too in Cincinatti. But we learn by our mistakes and move on.
